Kwame Akuffo-Akoto, a Ghanaian national, has spent the last 28 years in Africa and Asia working in financial management support to international agricultural research for development. He is a certified chartered accountant (South West London College, UK). Mr Akuffo-Akoto started his international career with the CGIAR as the Financial Controller with the Africa Rice Centre (WARDA) in Liberia, rising to the position of Director for Finance and Administration. In 1996, he moved to the International Crop Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in Hyderabad, India, as Director for Finance and Administration. From 2002 to 2007, he worked at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), in Los Banos, Philippines, as the Director of Management Services and thereafter as the Chief Operating Officer for the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) based at its headquarters in Nairobi until 31 December 2012.
