Uganda to start biotech cotton trials 

Uganda's National Agriculture Research Organization (NARO) will soon begin field trials of genetically modified (GM) Bt bollworm resistant cotton and GM "Roundup Ready Flex" herbicide tolerant cotton. NARO received government permission to import the GM cotton technology last month. With assistance from the Agricultural Biotech Support Project (ABSPII), which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), NARO had already reached an agreement with Monsanto Company for access to the GM technologies.
