To accomplish specific tasks as it implements its portfolio, AATF is looking for a qualified and experienced Accounting Officer. The incumbent will be guided by the following Terms of Reference:
- Ensures administration and implementation of AATF’s financial operations and strategies.
- Ensures administration of budgets and proper functioning of the optimal cost allocation-recovery system for projects and services provided by AATF to other entities.
- Reviews budget expenditure against allotments/work plans, management advice and presentation of information for financial planning and timely decision making.
- Provides accounting and administrative support to the Foundation through preparation and submission of financial reports to donors, maintenance of the accounting processes and internal expenditures.
- Administers the payroll and ensures preparation of entitlements and proper control of documents in compliance with statutory bodies.
- Ensures proper AATF cash management functioning including tracking cash positions, preparation of bank reconciliations, regular cash flow forecasting.
- Facilitates both external and local financial statutory compliance and liaison with internal and external auditors.
- Ensure sound implementation of grants, project and partner agreements and contracts by providing the necessary financial management support and assist management in implementation of effective monitoring and evaluation of all financial undertakings.
- Ensures harmonious integration of finance and administration processes, continuous and timely implementation of appropriate and value adding financial strategies such as ICT systems, reporting structures etc and monitoring/recommending changes required.
The ideal candidate should possess a degree in accounting (finance) and CPA qualification. An advanced university qualification will be an added advantage.
She/ he should have minimum of seven years of progressive finance experience at the national or international level. Experience in computerised accounting systems, financial management training or experience in project/ grant accounting and budgeting. Knowledge of French is desirable.
This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position based at AATF's headquarters in Nairobi and is on a two-year renewable contract subject to individual performance and availability of funds. Salary and benefits will be in line with those provided within AATF’s NRS scheme.
