Alhaji Tukur is the Executive President of the African Business Round Table, Chairman of the NEPAD Business Group and a member of the International Business Advisory Council to the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation. A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, he studied Transportation and Economics at the London School of Economics and received his Master's Degree in Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh, USA.Alhaji Tukur has served in various leadership positions in Nigeria's industries including the Nigerian Ports Authority, Railway Corporations, National Shipping Line and Nigeria Airways. Between 1994 and 1995, he served as a member of the Federal Executive Council and Minister of Industries in the Nigerian government. Alhaji Tukur has also served in initiatives in the African region such as the African Business Roundtable, the OECD-Africa investment advisory board and the advisory board to the IFPRI Vision 2020. In January 2002, he received the National Honour of the Commander of the Order of the Mono, conferred by the president of Togo in recognition of his contribution to business in Africa. He was also appointed to the Ghana Investors Advisory Council by the President of Ghana. Currently Alhaji Tukur is the Group Chairman of BHI Holdings Limited (Daddo Group of Companies). He is also the Vice President of the International Ports and Harbours Association, Chairman of African Communications Agency (ACA), WASA-DELMAS/SDV (Nigeria) Limited, Crown Insurance Brokers Limited, Abumet Nigeria Limited, Calabar Wood Export Processing factory, Global Commerce & General Assurance Limited, and Ecomarine International. He is also a member of the National Council on Nigerian Vision (NCNV) and holds the Nigerian National honour of the 'Commander of the Order of the Niger' conferred on him by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He has been awarded an honorary law doctorate degree by the Benue State University, and is s fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, Zaria. Alhaji Tukur is Nigerian and he holds the traditional title of Tafidan Adamawa.
