John Makokha – Resource Mobilisation Officer

John Makokha, a social scientist, holds an MBA in marketing and strategic management from Kenyatta University, a BSc degree in agricultural economics from Egerton University, a Diploma in Business Management from the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and a certificate in Project Management from the University of Tennessee, USA.  He is a certified grants manager having completed the Gateway to Grants course offered by USAID, has undertaken an online course on Critical Thinking in Global Challenges at the University of Edinburgh, UK and is a continuing student of Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) course by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Prior to joining AATF, John worked at the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) Refugee Trust of Kenya as the Grants/Development Officer in charge of fundraising and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities. Before that, he worked at World Vision for 17 years in various capacities including Senior Programs Officer where he was responsible for resource mobilisation and project monitoring. John worked briefly as the Design, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist for World Vision at East Africa regional level in charge of Horn of Africa Relief project. He has served as an individual consultant for UNDP and other NGOs undertaking local and national assignments. John is a member of the Kenya Association of Fundraising professionals (KAFP). At AATF, he is charged with mobilising resources and building relationships with donors, among other duties. John is a Kenyan national.
